Privacy Policy

AlcoBalance — Privacy Policy. Last updated: April 27, 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how AlcoBalance ("App", "we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the mobile application. By using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Personal Information provided by you

  • Age (numeric)
  • Gender
  • Weight
  • Activity level (low / medium / high / athlete)
  • Time zone
  • Email address — only if you choose to create an authorized account (via email + one-time password, Sign in with Apple, or Sign in with Google).

1.2 Account Identifier

When you use the App, we create an account on our servers and assign it a unique identifier (UUID) generated by us. This identifier is stored in the App's local storage on your device. We do not use device identifiers, advertising IDs, or hardware fingerprints to identify your account. The identifier is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its local data, which terminates access to the corresponding anonymous account.

  • Anonymous accounts use this identifier as the sole means of access — no email, password, or social login is required.
  • Authorized accounts link this identifier to your email address or your social-provider account (Apple, Google).

1.3 Consumption History

  • Date and time of consumption
  • Type of drink
  • Drink name
  • Volume
  • Alcohol percentage
  • Food intake marker (yes/no, type of food)

1.4 Forecast Data

Calculated values of estimated blood alcohol concentration (BAC), peak BAC, and sobering time.

1.5 Automatically Collected Data

  • Device information (model, operating system, app version)
  • Technical identifiers and event logs (via Google Analytics, Firebase, AdMob)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

  • To provide and improve App functionality (tracking, forecasts, analytics).
  • To personalize the user experience.
  • To maintain user accounts and history.
  • To generate aggregated and anonymized analytics for internal use.
  • To display advertising to free users.
  • To comply with legal obligations where applicable.

3. Data Storage & Retention

Account data and consumption history are stored for as long as your account is active. Retention upon inactivity depends on the account type and whether any purchase has been made:

  • Anonymous accounts, never paid — deleted after thirty (30) days of inactivity.
  • Anonymous accounts with at least one purchase — deleted after three (3) years of inactivity.
  • Authorized accounts, never paid — deleted after one (1) year of inactivity.
  • Authorized accounts with at least one purchase — deleted after three (3) years of inactivity.

"Inactivity" means no recorded use of the App during the period. Upon deletion, personal data and consumption history are erased; aggregated and anonymized analytics may be retained indefinitely. Users may request account deletion at any time.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent personal data to third parties.

We may share data in the following cases:

  • Service providers: Google Analytics, Firebase, and AdMob for analytics and advertising.
  • Legal requirements: if required by law, regulation, or valid legal request.
  • Business transfer: if ownership of the App changes (e.g., from individual developer to a legal entity), data will be transferred to the new owner.

5. User Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, GDPR or CCPA), you may have the following rights:

  • Access – Request a copy of your consumption history.
  • Correction – Request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion – Request deletion of your account and data.
  • Portability – Request export of your consumption history in machine-readable format.
  • Restriction – Request restriction of certain processing activities.
  • Objection – Object to certain processing, where applicable.

Requests may be submitted to: support@alcobalance.com.

6. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encrypted connections (HTTPS)
  • One-time passwords for login
  • Limited validity of authentication codes

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

7. Cookies and Tracking

Our website uses essential cookies for site functionality. With your explicit permission, we also use Google Analytics cookies to understand website traffic. These cookies do not track you across other apps or websites.

  • When you deny tracking: If you select "Ask App Not to Track" in the iOS app or decline cookies on our website, we do NOT load any analytics scripts, set tracking cookies, or collect analytics data.
  • Cookie deletion: If you previously gave consent and later decide to withdraw it, we actively delete all known tracking cookies.
  • No Cross-Site Tracking: We do not use your data for advertising targeting or cross-app tracking.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for individuals under the legal drinking age in their country (18+ or 21+ depending on jurisdiction).

Because the App can be used without registration (anonymous accounts), we do not perform any age verification through email, identity documents, or third-party services. Confirmation of legal drinking age is therefore based on a self-declaration that you provide on first use of the App. By continuing to use the App, you affirm that this declaration is truthful and that you are of legal drinking age in your jurisdiction. Providing a false declaration is a violation of these Terms and may result in immediate termination of access and deletion of your account and data.

We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a minor has used the App, please contact us at support@alcobalance.com immediately and we will delete the relevant account and all associated data.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed and stored on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you consent to such transfers.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Users will be notified of material changes via in-App notice or email. Continued use of the App after updates constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
